Ms. Niramala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India in Modi Govt 3.0 is all set to present the budget 2024. The budget will be for financial year 2025. She is expected to table the bill, outlining the priorities of new government, by the end of July.
Budget 2024 – A record by FM
Ms. Sitharamn will be the first finance minister of India to present seven consecutive Union of India budgets. Last year, she equaled the record of six budgets held by Late Shree Morarji Desai.

Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared that the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will start on June 24, end on July 3.
During this session, the new members of the Lower House will take their oaths. they will choose a new speaker as well. On June 27, President Droupadi Murmu will address both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. She is expected to lay out the new government’s plans for the next five years.
The first three days of the session will be dedicated to swearing in the new members and electing the Speaker.
What to expect from Budget
After a unexpected election results, all eyes will be on first budget of Modi government 3.0. It will be presented by Nirmala Sitharaman, the FM of Union of India. Analyst are expecting a mix of reform and public spending. Some areas where there can be focus:
- Reform momentum will continue to spur growth
- Focus on macro-economic stability
- Focus on sustainable living
- Widening of tax base
- Policies which aid growth and increase consumption to meet GDP targets
- Lower tax rates for business and individuals
- Removal of more deductions
- Removal of cess
- GST changes
Even though the mandate was not as expected, economy will benefit from the stability that the NDA government provides. All eyes will be on Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman and her direction to economy.
