Please be advised that filing your ITR is very important duty as citizen of India. Based on the income type, the last date of filing of ITR is different. Generally, these dates have remain constant over the years. There have been instances where the GOI has extended the dates due to some pressing reasons. If the deadline is missed, it attracts financial penalty and which can be simply avoided by taking timely action.

Like advance tax, filing income tax return on time helps you in compliance and also help in getting refunds on time, if any. Over the years, the filing taxes have been made so simple that if you plan ahead of time, the whole process will not take a lot of time.

Here are the ITR filing last dates for different categories of taxpayers for the financial year 2023-24 (Assessment Year 2024-25).

31 July 2024

The following category have the dead line till 31 July 2024:

  • Individuals
  • Bodies of Individuals (BOIs)
  • Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs)
  • Associations of Persons (AOPs)

October 31, 2024

The business which require Audit repots including Firms, OPCs, LLPs, Pvt Ltd. The audit report should be submitted by September 30, 2024.

December 31, 2024

The deadline for submitting revised income tax returns is December 31, 2024

In case you forget to submit the ITR, ensure to submit a belated or late return by December 31, 2024. This should be avoided unless some pressing reason.
